HOW TO DO BUSINESS WITHOUT BURNOUT

how not to burnt out as an entrepreneur

HOW NOT TO BURN OUT AS AN ENTREPRENEUR

So many entrepreneurs ask me how to make operating their business less draining.

They ask things like:

"How can I keep showing up? It's so exhausting."

"How can I keep nurturing the leads in my facebook group?"

"How can I be on instagram, and facebook, and twitter, and tiktok to get clients?"

First off, there are several apps available to help you manage your content, and plan ahead of time such as Tailwind, Planoly or Later.  But the real problem here isn't about showing up consistently. The problem is that when you show up, you are looking to get something from people.  When you try to get, you are always anticipating and expecting a like, a comment, a share, or a booked consult call.

But when you approach an activity in your business to get comments, likes, admiration, sales, enrollment you set yourself up.  Because out of a 100 people that even see your content, only 10 will ever make a move.  So 90 out of the 100 times you will deflated.  You will worry and stress about when no one is engaging.  And you'll feel exhausted, and burnt out.

You'll have thoughts like:  "I did all this work for nothing" or "No one cares about what I have to say."

What if you showed up with a different intent that will fill you up and make you feel buoyant?

That intent is the intent to give instead of get.

The spirit of giving will infuse your marketing with love, and it will draw your ideal clients to you.

The intent is to serve, and as Seth Godin put it, to leave people better than they were yesterday.

The next piece of advice I have for you is to notice where you are pushing for perfection.  Are you trying to curate the perfect instagram feed, create the perfect post, or spending days figuring out your tag line?  What if you could simply be more truthful instead of trying to market like someone else?

What if you could use your business as vehicle for change - to shed light on an old perspective, to add value to a conversation or to teach something old in a new and novel way?

When you show up to give, you'll never feel exhausted.  When you show up to share because you believe in the power of your message, you will never feel drained.

Finally, it goes without saying that rest is essential to your business.  If you're always in action, you will inevitably burn out.  It's simply not a sustainable way to be everywhere, all of the time.  So, find one platform that works really well for you.  Show up when you feel rested.  Take a break and nourish your brain with a good book.

So if you don't want to be a burnt out entrepreneur, show up to give instead of get.  Be truthful instead of being perfect, and rest when your body needs it.
